Due to high prevalence of HTLV-1 infection in Razavi Khorasan province in the northeast of Iran and its medical and social consequences, access to accurate and up-to-date scientific information about this infection is needed for public and medical groups in this region. Therefore, "HTLV-1 Information and Researches Website"  was estabished by the ACECR, Razavi Khorasan Branch, Mashhad, Iran in 2011.

The most important goals included raising public awareness about HTLV-1 infection through providing scientific information for public and the patients, promoting of physicians' and healthcare providers' knowledge, removing social stigma related to HTLV infection, and providing up-to-date information for health researchers by disseminating the scientific research reports, articles, and news.
